NOTE: Songs are arranged alphabetically.
In Harmony
I write a song for each of my children, and this is the one I wrote for my oldest, Matthew. The mp3 recording is of him singing it at age 10.
As reference, I chose a quote from President David O. McKay: “Next to the bestowal of life itself, the right to direct that life is God’s greatest gift to man” (Gospel Ideals, Salt Lake City: Deseret Book Co., 1993, p. 299).

Leading to the Savior's Light
This is the song I wrote for my daughter, Kelsi. The mp3 recording is of her singing it at age 8.
As reference, I chose the following quote: “I see the light shining in your faces. That light comes from the Lord, and as you radiate that light, it will bless you and many others” (President James E. Faust, “Your Light – A Standard to All Nations”)

My Father Above
The initial idea for this song came as I was sitting in the LDS General Women's meeting in September 2017. Sister Marriott said, "We need to continually deepen our knowledge of and obedience to Heavenly Father," and parts of the chorus came to me at that time. The first verse/chorus of this song are all questions, and the 2nd verse/chorus are the answers to those questions. This song teaches about the purpose of life and how we are children of our Heavenly Father.

My Gardener
This song is based off the story of the currant bush, originally told by Elder Hugh B. Brown, and retold here by Elder Christofferson: https://www.mormonchannel.org/watch/series/mormon-messages/the-will-of-god-2
God truly is our loving Gardener. As we have faith in Him and His plan for us, He will help us become so much more than we could be on our own.
"The gospel of Jesus Christ...shows us how to become what our Heavenly Father desires us to become." ~ Elder Oaks
"Enduring chastening can refine us and prepare us for greater spiritual privileges." ~ Elder Christofferson

On the Covenant Path (Children's Version)
This song was originally written to go along with my stake's trek theme this year. In this children's version I have simplified the piano part, and it could also be sung in unison rather than with the two parts. Though this song is fairly simple in nature, its message is applicable to all of us who are doing our best each day to stay on the covenant path! As President Russell M. Nelson said, "Keep on the covenant path. Your commitment to follow the Savior by making covenants with Him and then keeping those covenants will open the door to every spiritual blessing and privilege available to men, women, and children everywhere."

Our Father's Plan
This is the song I wrote for my son, Jason. The mp3 recording is of him singing it at age 6.
As reference, I chose a quote from an address by Ezra Taft Benson: "Never before on the face of this earth have the forces of evil and the forces of good been so well organized...God has saved for the final inning some of His stronger and most valiant children, who will help bear off the kingdom triumphantly!"

Scripture Heroes
My ward primary president asked me to write a song for the primary theme of 2016 - "I Know the Scriptures are True". As I thought about what direction to go with this, I felt I should write a song that helped the kids understand that turning to the scriptures is one of the best sources of truth in our world. There are so many sources of information with the internet and social media, there are famous people who kids admire and want to be like, etc. I wanted to plant the idea of looking to scriptural role models or heroes who can be examples of how to live righteously and follow Jesus Christ. The quote I chose for this song is by Elder Richard G. Scott - "The scriptures can form a foundation of support. They can provide an incredibly large resource of willing friends who can help us." ("The Power of Scripture")

Worth the Wait
This is the song I wrote for my daughter, Emma. We waited and hoped for her to join our family for several years. She is definitely worth the wait! Elder Holland has said, "Some blessings come soon, some come late, and some don’t come until heaven; but for those who embrace the gospel of Jesus Christ, they come."

You Are Loved
This is the song I wrote for my son, Tyler. At 3 years old he is already a very loving little boy. As an example, one day he asked if his nursery teacher was feeling better. I didn't even know but found out later she had hurt her back playing tennis. What 3 year old thinks of his nursery teacher in the middle of the week and wants to know if she is doing better?! He has been given the gift of charity and is filled with love for others. I knew his song should be about love - about seeking for and sharing the love of Christ with all those around us. As reference, there is a talk by President Uchtdorf entitled "The Love of God".
